The regatta, which will take place from 13 to 15 August, will mark the start of a new season of the Canary Islands Elite Sailing Circuit and will once again form part of the programme for the San Ginés celebrations.
The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife hosted the official launch of the 15th edition of the César Manrique RCNA – Calero Marinas Trophy, an event which will take place from 13 to 15 August and which, after fifteen editions, has established itself as one of the flagship events on the regional sailing calendar. Its history has contributed to the growth of the sport in Lanzarote and to the island’s reputation as a venue for major sailing events.

The event was attended by the president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife,
Julio Romero; the president of Calero Marinas, José Calero; the CEO of the
Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor Fernández; and the mayor of Arrecife,
Yonathan de León.
During the presentation, Julio Romero noted that the César Manrique RCNA –
Calero Marinas Trophy will once again be the opening event of the Canary Islands High-Level Circuit,
which comprises three regattas held in Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
He also highlighted the consolidation of a competition that has now reached its
fifteenth edition thanks to the commitment of the organisers, sponsors and,
in particular, the boat owners, skippers and sailors who have supported it since its
inception.
For his part, José Calero highlighted the history of a regatta that has been the “cradle
of great sailors from Lanzarote” and which has contributed to the growth of sailing on
the island. In this regard, he emphasised that the César Manrique Trophy has been part of
Lanzarote’s nautical development and has paved the way for the island to subsequently host
highly prestigious competitions, such as the 52 SUPER SERIES for the TP52 class.
He also expressed his confidence that this fifteenth edition will once again be a success
thanks to the joint efforts of the organisers, institutions and participants.
The CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, emphasised that sports tourism
is one of the cornerstones of the island’s promotional strategy and that water sports
play a leading role in achieving this objective. As he explained, events such as the
César Manrique Trophy help to strengthen Lanzarote’s image as a destination
for hosting sporting events, generating significant economic
and tourism benefits thanks to the coordinated efforts of public and
private organisations.
Finally, the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, congratulated the Real Club Náutico de
Arrecife and Calero Marinas on organising a regatta that will once again form
part of the programme for the San Ginés Festivities. He also emphasised that the
competition will help to make the capital a hub for sport,
culture and leisure, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy both the regatta and
the patron saint’s festivities.
From 13 to 15 August, the waters off Arrecife will once again bring together the leading
crews from across the archipelago for an event which, now in its fifteenth year, continues
to be one of the cornerstones of sailing in the Canary Islands and a prime example of collaboration between
clubs, businesses and institutions to promote the sport and raise the profile of
Lanzarote.
The César Manrique Trophy is sponsored by the Lanzarote Island Council, Turismo
Lanzarote, the Island Sports Service, the Lanzarote Centres for Art, Culture and Tourism,
Arrecife Town Council – through its Sports and Tourism departments – and
private companies such as Balearia and Cicar.
